Charts
This page contains two charts of our trip. The top chart is an overview of the entire 1,250 mile trip. The lower chart is a more detailed chart of the Queen Charlotte Islands. Both charts were initially created using the USGS coastline extractor and then heavily edited and colorized using Adobe Photoshop. The charts are relatively small GIF files that should not take too long to load. Neither chart should be used for navigation.

Our voyage took us north, up the inside of Vancouver Island and then to Prince Rupert via the Inside Passage. After Prince Rupert, we crossed Hecate Strait and went out to the Queen Charlotte Islands. We worked our way south through the islands and then headed back home via a 24 hour crossing of Queen Charlotte Sound. On our way home, we re-covered some of the same ground we saw on our way up, but we also deviated to go to places like Seymour Narrows, Campbell River and Silva Bay, which we did not see on the way north.

In regards to the detailed chart of the Queen Charlottes Islands. We made our landfall in the Charlottes at Queen Charlotte City. After a few days in Queen Charlotte City, we worked our way down around South Moresby Island (and Gwaii Hanaas) and ultimately ended up at the southern tip of the Charlottes in a place called Rose Harbor.

If you are interested in further information on any of these places, go either to the Table of Contents or the Alphabetical Listing of Locations mentioned in Adventures in the Charlottes.
