Screensaver Installation Instructions
TGW.NET screensavers are auto-installing and are very simple to install. These instructions are primarily intended for people using Windows 9x. If you are running an operating system other than Windows 9x, you are on your own.
  1. Find the *.exe file you downloaded to your system (likely on your desktop). The file will be called:

             lonelysentinels-XL.exe (1600x1024 version) --OR--
             lonelysentinels-SS.exe (all smaller resolutions)

  2. Double-click (left mouse button) on this file.

  3. The setup wizard will ask you if you are sure you want to install the screensaver. Answer YES.

  4. You will be displayed a readme file. The readme file contains copyright information, license information, installation instruction and a FAQ. Close or print this file when you are done.

  5. The setup wizard will ask you if you are want to set the screensaver as your default screensaver. Most people will want to answer YES to this question. Answering YES will set the screensaver as your default and start displaying when appropriate. Answering NO will install the screensaver as available screensaver, but will not activate it.

  6. The setup wizard will inform you that installation is complete! Your screensaver should start displaying after the wait period (START | SETTINGS | CONTROL PANEL | DISPLAY | SCREENSAVER) is up.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: How do I find this readme file again?

A: Go to START | SETTINGS | CONTROL PANEL | DISPLAY and select the SCREENSAVER tab. Click the button labeled SETTINGS. At the bottom right hand corner of the dialog that comes up your will see a button labeled "ReadMe". Click on this button and this readme file will be displayed.

Q: Which screensaver do I need, Lonely Sentinels--XL or Lonely Sentinels--SS?

A: If your screen resolution is 1024x768, 800x600 or 640x480 you should use Lonely Sentinels--SS (most people). Lonely Sentinels--SS is based on 1024x768 images. If your screen resolution is 1600x1024 you should use Lonely Sentinels--XL.

Our screensavers have not been tested with 1152x864, 1280x1024 or 1600x1200 resolutions, however you may want to try (at your own risk) using one of the screensavers with the resolutions.

Q: How do I know what my screen resolution is?

A: Go to START | SETTINGS | CONTROL PANEL. Once the control panel is open, double-left-click on the 'Display' icon. Click on the 'Settings' tab. There should be a small gray retangle titled 'Desktop Area' and it should say something like '800 by 600 pixels' or '1024 by 768 pixels'. This represents your display resolution.

Q: How do change my screensaver?

A: Go to START | SETTINGS | CONTROL PANEL | DISPLAY and select the SCREENSAVER tab. You will find a drop down box that lists your available screensavers. Our screensavers are called Lonely Sentinels.

Q: How do I change the amount of time before my screensaver starts displaying?

A: Go to START | SETTINGS | CONTROL PANEL | DISPLAY and select the SCREENSAVER tab. You will find a drop down box labeled "Wait". This is the interval before a screensaver starts displaying on your system.

Q: How do I change the options on your screensaver?

A: Go to START | SETTINGS | CONTROL PANEL | DISPLAY and select the SCREENSAVER tab. Click the button labeled SETTINGS in the Screensaver group. Here is a discussion of the options available:

  • Redraw Speed (sec): 59
The screensaver is set by default to change images every 59 seconds. You can shorten this interval if you desire.

  • Shuffle Images: Enabled
The screensaver is set by default to shuffle images in a random order. By unchecking this option you can have the images display in their pre-set order.

  • Use effects: Enabled
The screensaver is set by default to apply random transition effects when images are changed. If you uncheck this option, images will have no effects when they are changed.

  • Resize images to fit screen: Enabled
The screensaver is set by default to fit images in the screensaver to your display size. Since our images are already high resolution, leaving this option checked will result in the best presentation in most instances.

Q: What should I do with the *.exe file I downloaded? Is this file required after I have successfully installed the screensaver?

A: No, the *.exe file you downloaded is not needed after you have successfully installed the screensaver--you can go ahead and delete this file.

Q: How do I uninstall your screensaver?

A: Go to START | SETTINGS | CONTROL PANEL | ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS. Scroll down the list box and select "Lonely Sentinels" as the software you would like to uninstall and press ADD/REMOVE. Click yes to the confirmation message and all files relating to our screensaver will be removed.
